Bowls & Cones
What is a Cone Piece?
Cone pieces are components used in smoking devices like bongs and also some types of handheld pipes. It's an essential part of the device that holds the dried herb that you want to smoke. A "cone piece" is the Aussie term used to refer to what the US and Europe call a bowl or slide. The term "cone" is derived from the shape of the bowl, which typically tapers down to a narrower opening at the bottom, resembling the shape of a cone or funnel. The cone piece is loaded with the ground herb then attached to the main body of the smoking device. The herb is then ignited and this starts the smoking process.
Cone pieces come in various shapes and sizes, and they can be made from different materials, such as glass, metal, or ceramic. Typically, glass cone pieces come in the two common sizes of 14mm and 18mm but some more uncommon cones can be 10mm or 12mm. Most metal stems are made of brass and would typically be seen in an Agung bong with a bonza-style metal stem. Some glass cones are also created with intricate and visually appealing designs. Typically referred to as ‘heady’, these cones are hand-made by glass artists and the designs can include vibrant colours, complex patterns, unique shapes, and even sculptural elements. ____________________
