An Aussie style bong is one that has a rubber grommet with metal stem and a brass cone piece. This is the classic old school style of bong in Australia and still the most widely used.

This type of bong was first made popular by Agung in the 1970's. Agung started off by selling hand made bongs in the Sydney region and as they grew the stem size (They called the "Bonza" stem) became standardized in Australia. 

Aussie style bongs are typically glass but may be ceramic or other materials. They often also have a removeable rubber base to assist in cleaning.
